Imagine the shopping center behind Foodland as a hub for Westside residents. Imagine a small Rick Caruso-like center designed for middle class families. Clean, safe, well lit, family-oriented (playground in the middle), and with stores that serve the demographic of all Westside residents around the perimeter. One store would have to have fresh produce and milk at reasonable prices, maybe a Westside Food Co-op. But, it would have to be really clean...not like the one that feels like you're still in the 60's. The residents could work there, get job training, and make connections to their neighbors.
